HELP PILIPINAS, Dr. Mildred Vitangcol Pushes for Accessible Education and Community Support in DZRH Interview

Dr. Mildred Vitangcol’s Advocacy for Accessible Education and Community Support

In a recent interview on DZRH, Dr. Mildred Vitangcol, first nominee of the H.E.L.P. Pilipinas Party-list, shared her unwavering commitment to addressing the pressing challenges that hinder the progress of underserved Filipino communities. Dr. Vitangcol’s advocacy centers on ensuring that all Filipinos, especially those from marginalized sectors, have access to basic services such as education and healthcare.

Dr. Vitangcol underscored the struggles faced by students in remote areas, where many must travel up to 30 kilometers just to attend school. These students often lack basic resources, and the schools in these areas are underfunded and overcrowded. She acknowledged the gravity of the situation, emphasizing that these challenges cannot be overcome by isolated efforts alone.

Dr. Vitangcol has been involved in projects to build classrooms and set up water systems in underserved communities. These efforts have already made a significant difference, providing students with better learning environments and communities with access to clean water. However, she noted that these initiatives have been limited by a lack of resources. Dr. Vitangcol believes that the next step in her advocacy is to secure a seat in Congress, where she can push for the policies and funding needed to expand these programs. With a larger platform, she aims to implement solutions that will benefit not only individual students but entire communities, ensuring that these vital services reach more Filipinos across the country.

In addition to her work on education, Dr. Vitangcol also emphasized the critical need to address teenage pregnancy, which continues to affect the lives of many young Filipino mothers. She stressed the importance of strengthening early childhood nutrition programs, such as the First 1,000 Days of Life initiative, to ensure that every Filipino child has the best possible start in life.

Dr. Vitangcol’s advocacy is rooted in a deep sense of responsibility and service to the Filipino people. “Kung bibigyan tayo ng pagkakataon, sisiguraduhin nating bawat Pilipino ay may tinig sa paggawa ng mga batas na tunay na makakatulong sa kanila,” she said, underlining her commitment to amplifying the voices of those who are often overlooked in policymaking.

She concluded, “Through my work with the Rotary and other organizations, we have already made meaningful strides. But we know there is still more to be done. Our goal is simple—HELP Pilipinas Party List # 100 sa balota — kaagapay sa bawat Pilipino, sa serbisyo, aksyon, at malasakit. The best way to achieve this is through a seat in Congress, where we can ensure that every Filipino receives the resources and support they need to build a better future.”
